Bij ons thuis hing er altijd een zwarte tegel aan de muur met daarop de afbeelding van John F.Kennedy(†1963). Beroemd is zijn inaugurele speech uit 1961 om de zin "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" en M.Luther King(† 4-4-1968), "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed. We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal.
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

Twee belangrijke mannen uit de Amerikaanse geschiedenis die zich inzetten voor einde van de rassenscheiding, vrijheid en gelijkheid in de wet en de wereldwijde armoede in de roerige jaren 60. Een tegel die altijd een prominente plaats innam in het gezin.
